| US Barn Builders started as Hughes
Chair Company in 1965 by Roy Hughes' father and mother, Jim
and Mazel Hughes. They manufactured handcrafted porch rockers,
ladderbacks, barstools and other furniture. Jim and
Mazel had learned the trade from Mazel's father, Shelah
Thomas, who was well known in that region for his quality and his
affordable
prices. Jim and Mazel decided to continue the family
tradition and further enhance the family's reputation for
fine furniture making nationwide.
To this day, travelers from all
over the country will still come to this location to buy furniture
that their parents or grandparents once did. In 1994, Jim and
Mazel retired from the furniture business and Roy and Tamara
Hughes took over. It was soon decided to diversify and add
additional products to meet customer demand. Storage buildings, a
variety of outdoor furniture, and jungle gyms have been gradually
added through the years for a complete line of outdoor items to
meet anyone's needs. Tamara also has a second location to better
suit customer needs in the middle Tennessee area and she also
offers her products online as US Barn Builders. Shown below are
photos of our Central Tennessee location.
